How long does a pool excavation take?
Most residential pool digs take one to three days on site, depending on the size of the pool, the ground conditions and how much spoil has to be carted away. We give you a realistic timeframe with the quote rather than a best case.
Can you get a machine into a tight backyard?
Usually yes. Tight access is a large part of what we do. We run compact machinery that fits through standard side gates, so a narrow side passage or a built up block does not automatically mean the pool has to be dug by hand.
What happens to all the dirt that comes out?
We cart it offsite as part of the job. A pool dig produces a serious volume of spoil, so removal and tipping are quoted up front rather than added later. If you want some kept on site for levelling or garden beds, tell us and we will leave it where you want it.
What if you hit rock?
It happens on plenty of Illawarra and Shoalhaven blocks. We carry a hydraulic hammer and can break through, though rock does add time. We will tell you as soon as we find it and what it means for the schedule.
Do you work in with the pool builder?
Yes. Most of our pool work is done alongside a pool builder or landscaper, dug to their setout and levels. We are happy to deal with them directly so the site is ready when they need it.
Do you handle the concrete around the pool as well?
We do. We pour pool surrounds, paths and entertaining areas in plain, coloured, exposed aggregate and textured finishes. Having the same crew dig the pool and pour the surrounds means one quote and no waiting between trades.
Do I need council approval before you start?
Pool installations generally need approval, and that is normally arranged by you or your pool builder before excavation begins. We will not start a dig without it being sorted.
How do you protect underground services?
We check for services before we dig and pothole by hand where anything is likely to be close. Locating water, sewer, power and communications lines first is standard, not an extra.
Will my lawn and driveway be wrecked?
We plan the machine route and protect what we can, then clean up before we leave. Some marking on a lawn is unavoidable when a machine and tipper have to reach the back yard, and we will tell you honestly beforehand what to expect.
